Take Root - The Guided Journey

Begin to grow, from the ground up. Learn to find solidity in your roots and take nourishment from your environment.

Course Summary

Over the last 18 years, I have supported countless people to create long lasting, positive change in their lives and my experience shows that there are some foundational building blocks which are required to support any journey of healing, growth and change.

I have created the Take Root programme to share with you what is, in my mind, the most important element in holding the whole process together. This is often the piece in the puzzle which people most struggle to get to grips with and yet it plays a central role in supporting you to put down strong roots, stay steady in yourself and to draw in nourishment from your environment as you go along your personal path of transformation.

What is this important skill?

The ability to easily bring your nervous system back into a state of regulation, in order to support you to stay feeling steady when you are facing challenges or change.

For so many people learning this skill is really difficult and it takes new knowledge, time and practice to master.

The Take Root programme is designed to give you the education and resources you need to integrate nervous system self-care & first aid practices into your daily life, in order to help you grow your resiliency and thrive in whatever you choose to undertake.

Take Root is an eight week intensive course, designed to educate you about the key role your nervous system plays in supporting your mental and emotional wellbeing, and take you through the foundational steps towards re-setting your nervous system into a healthy, grounded and reflexive state. The course will take you step by step through gaining the knowledge and strategies you will need to support you to feel solid and to flourish in life.

In this course you will:

* Learn about the functioning of the nervous system.

* Be guided through the steps which will help you to understand your own nervous system, understand the impact it has on your behaviour and consequently in your life, and be able to recognise and work with the the subtle shifts that your nervous system makes as it heads towards feelings of overwhelm.

* You will learn the basic principles of nervous system regulation, and have access to valuable, practical resources which will support you to bring your nervous system into a healthy state of functioning.

* Be guided through the process of establishing supportive daily routines, which support good health and facilitate personal growth.

Sign up today ready to start your journey towards feeling rooted and solid, and able to draw sustenance from your environment.

Rachel Surtees

Originally trained as a holistic therapist and growing and evolving my practice from there, I have worked with people therapeutically now for over eighteen years, including for the last several years working psychotherapeutically as a relational integrative therapist.

Through my work and through experiences in my personal life, I have become fascinated by people and the different ways we find of relating to each other. I recognise the power of having good, supportive relationships as being one of the central keys to our success and happiness as individuals.

I have also developed a deep interest in stories and the power they have to influence how we live our lives. I enjoy exploring with people the stories we create, to help us make sense and meaning of our interactions with others and the world, and the things we experience in our lives that lead us to live out certain life narratives. I find deep joy in helping people transform their lives, by supporting them to re-imagine the stories they hold which may be limiting them.

I bring both of these passions to all of the work I do with people, be that working online, in person, or in my self-guided offerings as well.

Who am I as a real life person?

I’m a fairly straight talking Northerner, who appreciates some gentle humour in life. I’m a mother, partner and friend and these relationships are highly important to me. I love being in the outdoors and spend as much time as I can engaging in activities which connect me with the natural world, so you’ll often find me out walking in the hills or messing about in/on the river. And, I love nothing more than sharing these experiences with others.

I’m a bit of a foody and I also have an intense curiosity about life which can lead me to nerd out a little about bizarre topics like fungi or quantum physics (not that I profess to fully understand either).

Most importantly for me, living an authentic life is something which I prize highly, so I endeavour, as much as I can, to walk my talk.
